The Structural Medicine Division of Haematology in Cambridge hosts an online Protein Crystallography Course with topics ranging from the practical: crystallisation, data collection, structure solution and refinement, to in-depth mathematical and physical theory that underpins the subject.
The BCA Industrial Group provide a number of spreadsheets containing formulae for many useful conversions and corrections to X-ray data: http://ig.crystallography.org.uk/spreadsh/ssindx.htm
A font, cryst, has been created by Ulrich Müller for displaying crystallographic symmetry axes in the style of the space-group diagrams in International Tables for Crystallography.
It is available from the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) website.
The IUCr's triennial international congresses have always been lively and cordial meetings, where many close friendships and collaborations have been forged.
The first edition of the World Directory of Crystallographers was produced in 1957, an unprecedented handbook of contact information and details of research interests tying together the community ever more closely.

Gift Aid doesn't cost you anything, it's simple to do, and, most importantly, the benefits go straight into BCA bursaries.
When you join the BCA you have an opportunity to fill out a Gift Aid Declaration which allows the BCA to claim 28p for HMRC for every £1 of your membership payments of donations. read more »
In the September 2004 edition of Crystallography News, Prof A.C.T. North drew attention to those BCA speakers who, in order to use a laser pen to point to some feature on their PowerPoint presentation, turn their backs to the audience and start talking to themselves. He wondered if anyone could provide a pointer which could be manipulated, with a mouse, on the speaker's laptop and thus be projected onto the screen. read more »
checkCIF is a service operated by the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) for checking structural data destined for publication in journals or database deposition; it may also be used by scientists wishing to assess the quality of their structure determinations whether they intend to publish them or not. read more »
